چکیده

Recent studies have indicated that the coarse grained dynamics of a large class of traffic models and driven-diffusive systems may be described by urn models. We consider a class of one-dimensional urn models whereby particles hop from an urn to its nearest neighbor by a rate which decays with the occupation number k of the departure site as (1 + b/k). In addition a diffusion process takes place, whereby all particles in an urn may hop to an adjacent one with some rate α. Condensation transition which may take place in this model is studied and the (b, α) phase diagram is calculated within the mean field approximation and by numerical simulations. A driven-diffusive model whose coarse grained dynamics corresponds to this urn model is considered.

Metastability in the Zero-Range Process

1. Introduction The zero-range process (ZRP) [1] is a simple lattice-based model for driven diffusive systems. For certain choices of parameters, the model exhibits a condensation transition (analogous to Bose-Einstein condensation) where a macroscopic proportion of particles accumulate on a single site [2]. Condensation is well-known in colloidal and granular systems [3] and also occurs in a v...

The finite density scaling laws of condensation transition in the stationary and dynamical zero range processes on scale-free networks

The dynamics of zero-range processes on complex networks is expected to be influenced by the underlying topological structure of networks. A real space complete condensation transition in the stationary state may occur. We have studied the finite density effects of the condensation transition in both the static and dynamical zero-range process on scale-free network. By means of grand canonical ...

Phase transition in an exactly solvable reaction-diffusion process.

We study a nonconserved one-dimensional stochastic process which involves two species of particles A and B. The particles diffuse asymmetrically and react in pairs as A∅↔AA↔BA↔A∅ and B∅↔BB↔AB↔B∅. We show that the stationary state of the model can be calculated exactly by using matrix product techniques. The model exhibits a phase transition at a particular point in the phase diagram which can b...

We consider the flavour-changing operators associated with the strong axial and trace anomalies. Their short-distance generation through penguin-like diagrams is obtained within the QCD external field formalism. Standard-model operator evolution exhibits a suppression of anomalous effects in K and B hadronic weak decays. A genuine set of dimension-eight ∆S = 1 operators is also displayed.

2 00 6 From urn models to zero - range processes : statics and dynamics

The aim of these lecture notes is a description of the statics and dynamics of zero-range processes and related models. After revisiting some conceptual aspects of the subject, emphasis is then put on the study of the class of zero-range processes for which a condensation transition arises. From urn models to zero-range processes: statics and dynamics 2 Introduction
